What people say about our rockschool...

"AllStars Rockschool is an initiative that has contributed massively to the development of numerous rock and pop musicians at Hurstmere School in Sidcup.
I was Lead Teacher and Director of Performance at Hurstmere School for 6 years, and in this time I saw students arrive in secondary school in Year 7 as highly accomplished musicians, thanks to AllStars and their team of tutors.
I now teach as a Director of Music in schools in Australia and several students have remained in touch with me. Several have proceeded to study music at university and graduated with music degrees. These students (thanks to their experience at AllStars) have also felt the need to give back to the community, having experienced rich learning outcomes with the rockschool, and some are now professionals teaching themselves.
I can testify personally that AllStars Rockschool was a key partner in developing music within the Hurstmere and Sidcup community.  I always found the whole team highly effective and collaborative.  A brilliant organisation with inspirational teaching."
Iain Robertson - previously Lead Teacher & Director of Performance, Hurstmere School, Sidcup

"My son has been having lessons for the last 5 years. The tutors make learning fun and are great guys who engage the children well.

I heartedly recommend Allstars Rockschool!"

Rhianne Meredith - Google review - 5 stars

"Couldn't recommend this music school highly enough. The've been running for years and it's easy to see why.

It's a great place to go, with lovely young teachers that the children really look up to. Always very helpful and nothing is too much trouble.

Each child shares their teacher with just one other child, which is great value compared to cheap options in groups when the teacher can't really help anybody. Everyone plays as a band at the end of every lesson which is brilliant to watch and sounds brilliant too."

"Thanks to everyone at AllStars, my son's confidence and self esteem have greatly improved since joining the music group.  The tutors are a great bunch, really friendly and approachable and make learning fun!"

"I can't praise rockschool highly enough. All the tutors are extremely friendly and relate very well to the students, producing brilliant results. My son really enjoyed his guitar lessons, learning new techniques and how to play with others. Having opportunities to play in public was also a great boost for his self confidence. Massive pat on the back for all involved!"  Elaine D - parent

My son loved his gift voucher that we gave him on Xmas day with his new guitar!  Although he was a bit nervous coming for his first lesson, the warm welcome and seeing everyone enjoying themselves put him at ease really quickly.  His tutor also tuned his guitar and showed him how to do it himself, which we weren't able to do for him.  He chose two guitar lessons, one on keyboard and one on drums and loved them all!  We're delighted that he's now enrolled! Thank you! - Janice M - parent

"I really like rockschool because I have played drums for six years now and I have not stopped enjoying it and when I started at the rockschool I loved it and wanted to keep going back!  The people there are so friendly and kind.

My favourite part is when we all have a jamming session at the end with each other playing songs that we have learned throughout the lesson. I have been at rockschool for about two years now and I don't want to ever stop!"

Charlie T - drummer, age 14

"Rockschool was a real find!  It's given my son the experience he lacked in playing in a band, has helped him obtain rhythm, and given him the knowledge and confidence to play to an audience.

The tutors are patient and encouraging and my son's skills have developed and increased beyond belief. He has been going for four years and can now play electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass and a little drums too. Thank you!"

"Allstars Rockschool have kindly played at our Summer Fair for the last three years, and I would wholeheartedly say I wouldn't want to organise a Summer Fair without them!!

Last year I mentioned that our theme would be the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, and in no time they had organised and drawn up a playlist that spanned across the six decades, that they would be rehearsing to play at our event! Just fantastic!!

Allstars not only provide superb entertainment, they bring a brilliant atmosphere to the event too. It's a perfect platform for the students to show off their talents, and with their families coming along in abundance for support and to watch them play, they in turn provide a tremendous amount of support at our event too!! I look forward to planning this year's event, and Allstars will have a place at centre stage!!"

"I love the way that from the very first lesson, each child is made to feel so welcome and is supported in their learning.  My boys do guitar and drums and love every minute of it!

Each tutor has their own knowledge to bring to a lesson. My son who plays guitar gets the opportunity to work with each tutor and develop his learning.  I feel that he wouldn't get that same opportunity if I sent him to a single tutor."

"My son Joseph has been coming to Rockschool since he was 6! He's now 17! It has been fantastic for his confidence and self esteem. He could be a quiet child but thanks to Rockschool he developed the confidence and ability to perform.

It has truly encouraged his love of music and development of skills as he plays guitar, bass and drums! It's his favourite pastime and he always leaves the sessions on a high! Thank you - you are inspirational."

"Both my sons attend drum lessons every week with AllStars Rockschool, and have done for nearly 2 years - it is the highlight of their week!! They really enjoy interacting with the tutors, who have instilled a great deal of confidence in them, and learning new songs throughout the lesson.

They particularly like the 15 mins at the end where everyone is playing together like a real rock band - it's always a pleasure to watch!!  I am impressed with the variety of songs and genres of music they learn, and Connie is always open to suggestions for new ideas and songs!

As a Teaching Assistant at the school where they rehearse, I often get comments from other members of staff regarding how great the set up is for their learning, and how exciting it all looks!

As well as their lessons every week, they also play at school fetes, where everyone gets to show off their talents to a crowd. They've always been enjoyable days and the boys think it's just fantastic!! Thank you so much everyone at AllStars Rockschool, you're doing a fantastic job!!"  -  Sara D - parent

"My sons both really enjoy their lessons. The teachers are very friendly and learning in this informal way is ideal for them.  Playing and performing has helped their confidence and it's just amazing to hear them play the guitar and drums!  The rockschool is well organised and it is great to sit and have a cup of coffee while watching them learn and perform".

Diane M - parent

"My son Charlie, age 14, has been going to Rockschool for about two years now.  He really loves it.  It has given him the opportunity to meet other musicians and he has even started up a band of his own.

It's a very good atmosphere and everyone from the children, teenagers and adults are always laughing and being encouraged. Every session starts with a lesson and then a jamming session at the end with songs they have learnt. Well worth a listen!"

"The two years that Tom has been with the rockschool, I have seen him build in confidence and musical understanding, whilst also having a great time!"  Sue M.E - parent

"In the time I have been at Rockschool, I have developed my skills in playing the drums and more recently the bass.  It has opened my mind to a greater understanding of music and has built my confidence. Great company and a great place to learn!".

Tom M.E - drummer/bassist, age 14

"Rockschool is such a good thing to be a part of.  I enjoy being taught by different tutors and love that we have a singer as well! I really felt part of a band when we performed at the Jubilee party. It was amazing!"  Morgan E - guitarist, age 11

"I look forward to Thursdays because of my lesson and it is a good link to the weekend".

Josh M - drummer, age 14

"Allstars is the 3rd place my son has tried to learn guitar and he's now loving it! We had tried individual guitar lessons at school but he gave up after less than a term as he wasn't learning much and lost interest.  We tried longer group lessons at a music school but he didn't get much attention in the group with four other children, then couldn't continue as he missed two weeks and fell behind.

A class at rockschool is perfect. He has great fun playing with the band and is progressing for the first time. His tutors are his heroes and can really keep him interested because they are young. It doesn't matter when we miss lessons or if he's ill because he doesn't need to keep up with others and we can have the lesson rearranged for another time.

Thank you for everything you're doing, especially being so family-friendly! " :-)  Lisa P - parent

"My son started learning electric guitar here after a few individual lessons.  He enjoys working with the tutors who are relaxed, friendly and very encouraging of everybody.  At first he couldn't join in with all of the songs played at the end, but it didn't take long before he could.  It is good fun and a great hour in the evening after school."  Lindsay M - parent

"My son has thoroughly enjoyed the whole Rockschool experience. He is learning the drums but has fun with the taster sessions where he tries other musical instruments.

He has performed at several outdoor concerts as part of Rockschool and each time his confidence in his ability seems to grow.  The friendly tutors and the encouragement from everyone there means that he is always eager to get to the next lesson".  Terry R - parent

"The teachers are COOL!"

Nathan M - guitarist, age 10
